Hamilton House
The Wilson family, their children, and grandchildren have long enjoyed summering in the Robert Jr. and Betsey Gowell Hamilton House. The Hamilton house dates back to this island’s settler days and has been home to farming families and those of ship captains. The Wilsons invited us to remodel key aspects of their summer home with an eye towards low maintenance in the future, environmentally friendly materials, and historic preservation – all on a moderate budget.

Eastledge
Eastledge is a summer cottage that has been in the Richardson family since 1937. The current owners asked Spring Island to create more space on the second floor, to add light, and to insulate the roof (heat buildup in this former attic was a big problem in the summer). Our challenge was to use updated and environmentally friendly materials in a historically accurate fashion. The new space is a dramatic improvement in terms of light, comfort, and usable space.
